Baseball signs junior college transfer McFarland
The Bellevue University baseball program under head coach Duane Monlux announced today the signing of junior college transfer Kody McFarland (Sugar City, Idaho) to a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at Bellevue beginning in the fall of 2011.

McFarland, a 6-6 right-handed pitcher, played two seasons at Grays Harbor College in Aberdeen, Wash. Over his two seasons, McFarland pitched 55 innings, recording 58 strikeouts, with 46 walks and three saves. At the plate, McFarland, collected seven doubles, two home runs and 11 RBIs during his freshman season. He did not bat as a sophomore.

“Kody is a big body kid that we feel can come in and help us on the mound and at the plate," said Monlux. "He is an upper 80’s-low 90’s arm with a 6-6 frame. He has shown the ability to strike people out in the NWAACC, averaging over a strikeout an inning in a very good league. We think his best years are still ahead of him," added Monlux.

McFarland joins the Bruins' earlier signees Aaron Beil (Omaha, Neb.), Ryan Knutz (Rochester, Wash.), and Tanner Moore (Omaha, Neb.) in the 2011-12 recruiting class.

The 2011 Bruins finished the season with a 31-22 overall record, advancing to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round after winning the 2011 MCAC Tournament title.
