SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- Every Bellevue University runner recorded at least on personal best on Saturday at the Sioux City Relays.
The meet, originally scheduled to take place over two days, was shortened to a one-day affair as a result of adverse weather in Northwest Iowa.
In addition to NAIA participants, the event featured teams from the NCAA's Division I and Division II.
With temperatures in the mid-30's, and under sunny skies, the meet opened with the men's steeplechase where ice had to be removed from the water jump prior to the start of competition. Cole Wagner slashed 20 seconds off his P.R. by running a 10:19.07 to earn a spot on the podium with a fifth place finish.
Lorena Ramirez got the women off to a strong start, hacking 50 seconds off her P.R., by running the 5,000-Meter in a time of 20:01.44. She was the second finisher among NAIA competitors and 16th overall in a difficult field which was dominated by South Dakota, South Dakota State, and Augustana.
Also among the highlights was Chris Casart lowering his personal best in the men's 5,000-Meterwith a time of 16:50.84, a 25 second improvement.
Three Bruins recorded personal bests in each event they entered. Diana Montano-Salama (800M, 1500M) and Cole Wagner (3000M Steeple, 1500M) each notched P.R.s in multiple events.
