Holz, Squiers net NSAA accolades

MADISON, Neb. -- Junior libero Taylor Holz and freshman setter Maddie Squiers were both honored by the North Star Athletic Association for their performances last week in the Bruins' five matches. Holz was named the NSAA Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season. Squiers nabbed NSAA Setter of the Week honors for the sixth time in 2016. 

Holz averaged 5.5 digs per set leading the 21st-ranked Bruins to a 4-1 record on the week. She racked up a total of 104 digs in 19 sets played for the week.  She also registered seven service aces (0.4 aces per set), recording a service percentage of .948 in 77 attempts.  Holz had a reception rate of .980 with 99 receptions and only two reception errors.

Squiers registered three double-doubles in Bellevue's five matches, with the only loss coming in five sets to No. 4-ranked Viterbo University.  She averaged 11.0 assists per set, dishing up a total of 209 assists in 19 sets played on the week.  Squiers also had 15 kills, 56 digs (3.0 digs per set), six service aces and a block assist.  She recorded at least 40 assists in three of the five matches and recorded 39 assists in a pair of matches.

The Bruins (27-9, 12-3 NSAA) will host Dakota State University on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. in the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center. It will mark the final regular-season home match for Bellevue.
