VALLEY CITY, N.D. -- Sophomore Shayla Scanlan pounded 10 kills on .474 hitting to lead the 18th-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-11) sweep at Valley City State University Friday night in North Star Athletic Association action.
Bellevue improved to 14-5 overall and 3-0 in the NSAA. VCSU fell to 5-9 on the season and 1-1 in league play.
Scanlan added a match-high four blocks in the win. Mikaylah Gillespie collected eight kills on .412 hitting while adding a pair of blocks. Rachel Wald, who played in the final two sets, finished with seven kills on nine errorless swings.
Maddie Squiers directed the BU offense to a .363 attack percentage, while dishing out 33 assists and adding five digs and a block.
Taylor Holz led the Bruin defense with seven digs and a pair of service aces as BU held the Vikings to a .060 hitting percentage.
Clarissa Olson led VCSU with seven kills and just one error in 13 attempts.
The Bruins will travel to Mayville, N.D. on Saturday (Sept. 24) for a 12 p.m. conference matchup with Mayville State University.
