Bellevue sweeps CAC Women's Soccer Awards
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Juniors midfielder Lily Humes (Bournemouth, England) and defender Maju Serrano (Quito, Ecuador) have been named the Continental Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Players of the Week, as announced by the CAC office on Monday morning.
Bellevue drew both of their games last week, playing (RV) Concordia to a 1-1 deadlock at home on Wednesday and picking up a 0-0 draw at Morningside on Saturday afternoon.
Humes earned CAC Offensive Player of the Week honors. She scored BU's lone goal in the draw against Concordia, heading home a cross in the 35th minute to pull Bellevue level heading into halftime. The goal was her second of the season as she collects back-to-back honors.
Serrano picked up CAC Defensive Player fo the Week honors for her performance last week. She delivered the assist on Humes' goal against CUNE and was instrumental in helping the Bruins post their second shutout of the season against Morningside. The defense allowed just 12 shots with a mere five making their way on goal on the week.
The Bruins (2-0-2) return home on Wednesday, Sept. 10 for a 5:30 p.m. kick-off against Doane University from the Renner Dennis Outdoor Athletic Conference.
