PAPILLION, Neb. -- Delfina Zolesio and Riley Porter each scored twice for No. 10 Columbia College as the Bellevue University women's soccer team suffered a 4-1 loss to kick off a four-game homestand to close out the regular season.
The loss drops Bellevue to 7-3-2 on the year while the Cougars improve to 7-1-1 with their third-straight victory.
Columbia started pressuring from the opening kick, racking up a 7-1 advantage in first half shots. Delfina Zolesio broke through for the Cougars in the 43rd minute. Grace Winegar sent a cross from the edge of the box that Zolesio headed hard back across the goal and inside the same post for a 1-0 lead.
Zolesio added to the CC advantage early in the second half. She pounced on a Bruin misplay inside their own box in the 50th minute and slotted a low shot to the far side of the goal.
Bellevue halved the lead 96 seconds later, courtesy of an own goal. Ashlyn Coreas whipped a ball into the box that a Columbia defender attempted to clear but redirected the effort into her own goal.
Columbia responded with the next four shots before finding another strike in the 71st minute off the foot of Riley Porter. Porter took a pass 40 yards from goal, shielded the ball from a Bruin defender whom she was finally able to shake once in the box and rip a low shot for a 3-1 lead.
Porter struck again in the 76th minute. After Macie Lucas saw her initial attempt blocked, Porter followed up with a shot into the back of the net.
Alessia Ricciardi totaled four saves in the loss for Bellevue.
Bellevue returns home on Saturday, Oct. 19 when they welcome the University of Jamestown to Papillion Landing for a 1 p.m. kick-off.
