Bruins, Mustangs battle to scoreless draw

PAPILLION, Neb. -- Alessia Ricciardi made seven saves in goal for the Bellevue University women's soccer team in a scoreless draw against Morningside University on Saturday evening.

With the result, the Bruins move to 4-0-2 on the season while Morningside now stands at 1-1-2.

The Mustangs out-shot BU 7-4 in the first half, peppering the Bruin goal with four shots on target though keeper Alessia Ricciardi kept the game scoreless for the host side.

Mia Hurt recorded the lone BU shot on goal in the 36th minute.

Play evened out some in the second half with Morningside out-shooting Bellevue just 4-3 in the period. Though three of the four Mustang shots found their way on goal.

Ricciardi's seven saves backed her third shutout of the season as she upped her save percentage to .813 on the year.

Kyla Syverson stopped the lone shot on goal she faced for Morningside.

Bellevue travels to the Sooner State this week for a pair of matches at Oklahoma City University (Thursday, 5 p.m.) and Science & Arts (Saturday, 5 p.m.).
