Nolte, Pelletier deliver fourth-straight win for BU

PAPILLION, NEB. -- Britney Nolte and Ella Pelletier each found the back of the net and Jenn Amaro made four saves to lead the (RV) Bellevue University women's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Iowa Wesleyan University on Saturday evening.

Records:

(RV) Bellevue: 11-2-1 (4-0-0 CAC)
Iowa Wesleyan: 7-8-0 (1-3-0 CAC)

BU 2, IWU 0

Iowa Wesleyan threatened early with some good combo play in the box but Jenn Amaro came off her line to turn away the ball before a shot could materialize.

The Bruins settled in some from there and nearly found themselves ahead at the 15-minute make but Sinai Bernal's attempt drew iron and caromed back into play off the crossbar.

IWU had more attempts over the next 15 minutes but nothing particularly threatening.

Britney Nolte took a pass from Laura Cardenas in the 35th minute, carved through the defense and slotted home her fourth goal of the season to the bottom, right-hand side of goal for a 1-0 BU lead.

The score remained 1-0 into halftime despite the Bruins out-shooting their guests 10-3 in the first 45 minutes.

Bellevue peppered the goal with shots early and often to open the second half finally breaking through with a second goal in the 65th minute. Bernal sent in a cross from the corner by the Bellevue bench for Ella Pelletier to head over the line.

The Tigers managed just one more shot the rest of the way and Bellevue executed down the stretch to secure the victory.

Amaro finished with four saves to notch her eighth shutout in 14 games, raising her save percentage to .900 and lowering her goals against average to 0.50.

Kylie Mulhern-Guillier made 10 saves for the Tigers who were out-shot 17-6 overall and 13-4 on goal. In addition, Bellevue took eight of the nine corner kicks in the match.

Player of the Match:

Coach Tom White:

"Overall we grew today as we dropped our standards in the first half. The ladies had to adapt mentally and tactically and the second half was much better."
