PAPILLION, Neb. -- A pair of goals in the first ten minutes was all the Bellevue University women's soccer team needed in the 2-0 win over William Penn University on Wednesday evening.

Records:

Bellevue: 2-0-0
William Penn: 0-1-0

BU 2, WPU 0

Bellevue started fast for the second-straight game with Sami Reding converting a penalty in the eighth minute. Reding was played in behind the defense and seemed to have a step on the final defender but was shoved down from behind in the box to earn the spot kick.

Less than two minutes later, BU doubled their advantage. After securing a corner kick, Ximena Jauregui sent in an in-swinger that Ketlyn Rota flicked on with the back of her head and into the goal for a 2-0 lead.

Bellevue carried that two-goal advantage into halftime having out-shot William Penn 10-7 through the first 45 minutes.

The second half saw continuous action but neither side found the back of the net.

BU had perhaps the best chance of the second half when Claudia Gallegos' 82nd minute header, off another Jauregui corner, was saved.

The final shot total wound up 17-15 in favor of Bellevue with the Bruins doubling up the Statesmen in corners, 6-3.

Jenn Amaro stopped all seven shots she faced to pick up her second-straight shutout.

Megan Cox totaled six saves for WPU in the loss.

Coach Tom White:

"It's a good win against a tough opponent who gave us problems throughout. We were very fortunate to take the lead and created a lot of chances. We just need to be a bit more clinical moving forward. Time to rest up and prepare for Morningside."
