Box Score

SEWARD, Neb. --  Junior Emily Weyant scored both goals, including the game-winner in overtime to give the Bellevue University women's soccer team a dramatic, 2-1, victory over Concordia (Neb.) University Wednesday night in non-conference action at Bulldog Stadium.

The win evened the Bruins' record at 4-4 on the season. CUNE remained winless at 0-6 overall.

Although the game was scoreless after the first half, Concordia dominated the possession, holding a 7-1 advantage in shots and a 3-1 edge in shots on goal in the opening 45 minutes. Sabrina Staufenbiel had three saves in the first half.

After the Bulldogs got on the board in the 53rd minute with a goal by Allee Downing, the Bruins quickly responded 47 seconds later with a header by Weyant to tie the score with Weyant's team-leading fifth goal of the season.

Neither team scored again until Weyant found the back of the net off a pass from Daisy Ochoa-Rojas just 2:56 into the first overtime to give BU its fourth victory of the season.

CUNE finished the game with a 14-6 advantage in shots, including an 8-6 margin in shots on goal.

Staufenbiel (4-4) collected seven saves while playing all 92:56 in goal.

The Bruins will host Tabor College on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 4:30 p.m. at Bellevue East High School.

Coach Tom White:

"That was a great win for us tonight. Not just because we won but because we all came together and showed what we are capable of."
