DES MOINES, Iowa -- Kylee Mastromonaco scored the game's only goal for the Bellevue University women's soccer team as they defeated #25 St. Ambrose University, 1-0, in the Bruins' final non-conference match of the season on Tuesday evening at the James W. Cownie Soccer Complex on Grand View University's campus.

With the win Bellevue improves to 9-3-0 overall on the year while St. Ambrose falls to 9-2-2. For the Bruins the win marks their first against a ranked opponent since they took down #13 Hastings on Sept. 20, 2015.

Chances were minimal in the first 45 minutes with just a combined eight shots – five for Bellevue, three for St. Ambrose – and, as such, the game was scoreless into halftime.

The game's lone goal came in the 73rd minute with Mastromonaco finding the back of the net for the fourth time this season.  Maiwut Dar was credited with the assist.

On the game the Bruins out-shot the Bees by a narrow 12-11 count (10-6 on goal) and held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Laurence Rodier (W, 8-2-0) made six saves to earn her fourth shutout of the season and pick up the win.

Nicole Staines stopped nine of the 10 shots on goal that she faced but the one goal she allowed was enough to tag her with the loss.

The Bruins return to action on Saturday, Oct. 14 when they travel to Jamestown, N.D. for a North Star Athletic Association match against the University of Jamestown at noon.
