Late goal seals win for Bellevue against Grace

OMAHA, Neb. -- A close game throughout was put away late as the Bellevue University women's soccer team defeated Grace University, 2-0, on Wednesday evening at Bergquist Stadium in non-conference action.

With their fourth win in five games, the Bruins improve to 9-5-1 on the year while Grace falls to 0-15-1 on the season with the loss.

Madison Lambert opened the scoring in the 13th minute with her team-leading sixth goal of the season. Jordyn Seidel sent in a cross from the near side that Lambert headed down past the keeper for a 1-0 BU lead.

Bellevue took a 1-0 advantage into halftime on the strength of a 15-0 advantage in shots in the opening 45 minutes.

The Bruins had chances to further distance themselves from Grace but the spirited Royal turned away chances for most of the game until BU finally put the game away.

The Bruins secured the game in the 84th minute when Reyvin Hernandez scored her second goal of the year. Hernandez received the ball in space from Lauren Clark and sent in a shot from 35 yards out that the keeper was unable to handle which bounced into the net.

For the game, Bellevue out-shot Grace by a margin of 25-2.

Laurence Rodier made one save to earn her fourth shutout of the year.

Bellevue concludes their regular-season on Saturday, Oct. 29 with a noon kickoff against Waldorf University in a North Star Athletic Association contest at Bellevue Soccer Club. Senior Day ceremonies will follow the game.
