Bruins rally for draw at Central Christian

McPHERSON, Kan. -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team scored a goal inside of the game's final 10 minutes to rescue a 1-1 draw at Central Christian College on Monday evening in non-conference action.

With the result Bellevue moves to 5-4-1 on the year while the Tigers now stand at 9-3-1 for the season.

Central Christian opened the scoring in the 42nd minute. Julia Ramos had her initial attempt saved but Jaclyn Carranza followed up with a shot of her own to give the hosts a 1-0 lead headed into halftime.

With time winding down in regulation, Madison Lambert scored the equalizer to force overtime. In the 83rd minute Kristin Hanson sent a cross into the box that Lambert directed into the back of the net with her head. The goal was her second of the season

Laurence Rodier made three saves in goal for Bellevue while Goldie Bougher recorded seven stops for Central Christian.

BU out-shot the home-standing Tigers by a final margin of 17-7 which included an 8-4 edge in attempts on goal. Corners went 6-1 in Bellevue's favor while CCC was whistled for 21 fouls to BU's 16.

The Bruins are now off until Sunday, Oct. 9 when they open North Star Athletic Association play with a 1 p.m. match in La Crosse, Wis. against Viterbo.
