No. 12 Hastings edges Bruins, 2-1

HASTINGS, Neb. -- The 12th-ranked Hastings College women's soccer team used two second-half goals to edge Bellevue University, 2-1, Wednesday evening in non-conference action at Lloyd Wilson Field.

Bellevue fell to 4-4-0 on the season with the loss, while the Broncos improved to 6-1-1 overall.

With just five combined shots on goal - three for Hastings, two for Bellevue - the sides headed into halftime scoreless. Hastings owned a 7-2 lead in total shots at the intermission.

The Broncos got on the board in the 63rd minute with a header by Heidi Bartsch off a corner kick from Megan Kruse. The same duo combined for Hastings' second goal in the 66th minute when Kruse found the back of the net on an assist from Bartsch. 

Maiwut Dar's team-leading fifth goal of the season sliced the lead in half with 18:24 left in the contest.  

Bellevue could not manage a shot on goal in the final 18 minutes as Hastings secured its sixth victory of the season. 

Bruin keeper Laurence Rodier made four saves on the night and Hastings' Emma Toohey also stopped four shots.

Bellevue next plays on Saturday, Sept. 24 at Oklahoma City University. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m.
