BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team dominated Morningside College in physicality and with offensive chances en route to a 1-0 non-conference victory on Saturday afternoon at Bellevue Soccer club.

Bellevue won for the fourth time in five games to improve to 4-3-0 on the season while Morningside falls below .500 at 3-4-0 on the year.

Morningside keeper Niccole McGuire made several quality saves in the opening half, including one in which she went up to the crossbar and tipped a Reyvin Hernandez shot over for a corner.

That was one of two near-misses by Hernandez in the opening 45 minutes. She looked to give BU a lead in the 25th minute but her shot from about 30 yards out rang the crossbar.

The game advanced to halftime scoreless despite a 13-2 shooting edge for Bellevue.

BU finally broke through in the 62nd minute. Madison Lambert sent in a cross from just outside the box to Maiwut Dar whose header caromed off keeper's hand and just inside the near side post for her fourth goal of the season.

In the 66th minute the Mustangs' #10 had a one-on-one chance with Bruin keeper Laurence Rodier but Rodier saved the shot with her legs to keep Morningside off the board and BU in front.

Rodier finished the match with four saves for the Bruins to record her first shutout of the season. McGuire stopped nine shots for the Mustangs who were out-shot 24-8 on the day.

Bellevue returns to the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 21 when they travel to #18 Hastings for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
