OMAHA, Neb. -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team picked up its first victory of the season with a 2-1 win against Doane College Monday night at Tranquility Park in nonconference action.

With the win, the Bruins improved to 1-1-3 while Doane fell to 1-3-0.

Courtney Richards put the Tigers on top with a goal 3:34 into the match on a pass from Mia Juarez.

The Bruins responded with a goal of their own just two minutes later on Mercy Darkoah's team-high third of the season. Betsy Fischenich earned the assist on the goal.

BU took the lead with a goal scored by Michelle Dolder on a pass from Jenica Bloom that got past the DC defense and led to shot by Dolder that beat Tigers' goalkeeper Kelsey Stark in the 24th minute.

Caitlin Stier stopped three shots while Stark notched 11 saves in the loss for the Tigers.

BU recorded a season-high 25 shots with 14 on goal. Dolder led the Bruins with six shots.

The Bruins will return to action this Friday-Saturday, Sept. 13-14 when they travel to Siloam Springs, Ark. for the John Brown Invitational. BU will play host JBU on Friday at 2:00 p.m. before playing No. 8 Oklahoma City University on Saturday at noon.
