
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Senior Erika Roberts scored two first-half goals to lead the Bellevue University women's soccer team to a 3-1 non-conference win over Mount Mercy University Tuesday afternoon at Lower Kingston Field.
With the win, the Bruins improved to 10-4 on the season. Mount Mercy fell to 4-11-1 overall.
Roberts opened the game's scoring with a goal in the 11th minute. Morgan Anderson and Jenica Bloom were both credited with the assist.
Roberts then notched her team-leading fifth goal of the season following a pass from Krystyn Yancone in the 26th minute.
The Mustangs cut the lead in half on a goal from Cara Evans at 59:00. Mackenzie Shay recorded the assist.
The Bruins added an insurance goal from Mollee Collins at 88:00. Alyssa Porter registered the assist.
Bellevue outshot Mount Mercy 29-6 and held a decisive 15-5 advantage in shots on goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Ana Price improved to 9-3 on the season, recording four saves while playing all 90 minutes in goal.
The Bruins return home on Saturday (Oct. 23) for a 1 p.m. MCAC contest against Oklahoma Wesleyan University at Tranquility Park. Bellevue's three seniors: Roberts, Ashley Janca, and Yancone will all be honored before the contest, which will mark BU's final regular-season home game of the 2010 season.
