No. 3 William Carey ends Bruins' season

DALLAS, Texas --  Third-ranked William Carey University shut out the Bellevue University women's soccer team, 2-0, Wednesday afternoon in the semifinals of the NAIA Unaffiliated Tournament in Dallas, Texas.

The loss ended the Bruins' 2009 season as Bellevue finished with a 14-7 overall record.

Gemma Metcalfe opened the scoring with a header in the 20th minute off a cross from GCAC Player of the Year Aimi Beresford to give the Lady Crusaders a 1-0 halftime lead.

Beresford then capped off the scoring with a goal of her own in the 55th minute.

William Carey advanced to the championship game of the tournament and will battle the University of Mobile at 12 p.m. on Friday for an automatic berth into the NAIA Women's Soccer National Tournament.
