
DALLAS, Texas -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team shut out Belhaven, 2-0, Tuesday afternoon in the opening round of the NAIA Unaffiliated Tournament in Dallas, Texas.
The Bruins improved to 14-6 on the season and will now face top-seeded William Carey at 12 p.m. on Wednesday in the tournament's first semifinal.
Junior Erika Roberts registered a goal and an assist to lead the Bruin attack.
Roberts scored just 90 seconds into the match after a breakaway pass from freshman Paige Wischmann to give Bellevue an early 1-0 advantage.
Senior Jenna Pendley collected her team-leading ninth goal of the season in the 30th minute off a breakaway pass from Roberts to conclude the game's scoring.
Freshman Sarah Boone notched her sixth shutout of the season while recording seven saves and improving to 13-6 on the year.
The winner of the six-team tournament will receive an automatic berth to the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship.
