Bruins win MCAC opener over York, 6-0

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team scored three early goals en route to a 6-0 victory over York College in the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference opener for both teams Saturday at Tranquility Park. Six different Bruins scored in the victory.

Bellevue improved to 8-2 overall and 1-0 in the MCAC. York fell to 3-7-1 and 0-1.

Senior Jenna Pendley, junior Erika Roberts and freshman Paige Wischmann each recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Bellevue offensive attack.

Freshman Sarah Boone improved to 7-2 on the season with one save in 77 minutes in goal.

Wischmann scored her fifth goal of the year off a pass from Pendley in the game's sixth minute to give the Bruins an early 1-0 advantage.

Pendley stole a pass and scored unassisted on the breakaway at 16:14 to give Bellevue a 2-0 lead.

Junior Erika Roberts found the back of the net on an assist from Amy Stigge in the 22nd minute to complete the first half scoring.

Senior Anne Marie Lind scored off a touch pass in the box from Wischmann at 73:33 to make it 4-0 .

Sophomore Meredith Shuman scored with a shot from the top of the box on a free kick at 81:28.

Senior Whitney Ferguson completed the game's scoring with a shot from the top of the box at 85:48. Stigge and Roberts were both credited with the assist.

The Bruins will return to Tranquility Park on Sunday night, Oct. 4, for a 7:30 p.m. non-conference match against Midland Lutheran.
