SILVIS, Ill. -- Despite shaving 12 strokes off their team score on Wednesday, the Bellevue University women's golf team failed to make the cut at the NAIA Women's Golf National Championship being played at the 6.059-yard, par 72 TPC at Deere Run.
With the team falling short and no individuals making the third-round cut, the Bruins saw their season come to a close.
Bellevue shot 332 as a team as they climbed one spot in the standings to 24th. Coupled with their first-round 344, Bellevue finished the tournament with a total of 676.
Keiser University turned in the best round of the tournament to date, a 2-over 290. The Seahawks began the day in sixth place, 13 strokes back of the University of British Columbia. to move a stroke ahead of Oklahoma City University and UBC.
Three of five BU golfers – Ilysia Ibnu, Chloe Blandinieres, and Aaricia Noel-Traissac – bettered their round one scores, while Maria Pinedo matched her mark from Tuesday, and Megan Harty saw her score dip.
Ibnu finished as the Bruins' top golfer in the event and notched a pair of birdies on the day, doing so on the par four No. 6 and par five No. 17. She fired a team-tournament best 4-over (76) for a two-day total of 162 (+18) and in a tie for 71st.
Pinedo and Blandinieres each posted matching 12-over 84 second-round scores. Pinedo (168, +24) parred or bogeyed 17 of 18 holes as she finished in 97th, and Blandinieres (173, +29) tied for 113th, while her round was highlighted by a birdie on the par five No. 9.
Harty carded a second-round 92 (+20+ to finish 33-over in a tie for 125th place with a score of 177.
Noel-Traissac shot 88 (+16) on the day to move up to 133rd place with a 36-hole score of 180.
Keiser's Hoi Ki Lau shot a tournament-best 4-under 68 on Tuesday to erase a five-stroke deficit and move atop the individual leaderboard. She finds herself one stroke ahead of teammate Jolie Wong and SCAD Atlanta's Martha Sanchez.
