Bruins drop exhibition to D1 Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Bellevue University women's basketball team suffered an 84-34 exhibition loss at the hands of the University of Missouri Kansas City on Wednesday evening.

Gabby Moore and Delaney VanBlaricon scored nine points apiece to lead the Bruins in the scoring column. Kaylee Denker led the rebounding effort with 10 boards while Ashtyn Arnold scored seven points and grabbed nine rebounds of her own.

Kansas City improves to 4-5 on the year with their second-straight victory.

The Roos opened the game by scoring 25 of the first 26 points before VanBlaricon hit a pull-up three with 48 seconds remaining in the first quarter.

Things improved in the second quarter for BU as the Bruins were out-scored just 19-15 in the period.

Kansas City shot 78% in the third quarter to extend their lead to 71-31 heading into the fourth where they held the Bruins to just three points.

Ifunanya Nwachukwu led a trio of Roos in double figures with 14 points. Tamia Ugass (11) and Emani Bennett (10) joined her with double digit scoring games of their own.

The Bruins head to McKenzie, Tenn. this weekend for a pair of games at Bethel University's Holiday Classic beginning with a 5 p.m. tip against the host Wildcats on Friday.
