MADISON, S.D. -- Bellevue University senior Corey Jackson (Calgary, Alberta) has been recognized as the North Star Athletic Association Baseball Pitcher of the Week for his performance last week, in a release sent out by the NSAA office on Monday afternoon.

Jackson struck out a BU seven-inning game record 18 batters in his lone start of the week, a 3-0 victory over Viterbo. He scattered four hits and a pair of walks in the outing and only ran into trouble in the first inning, loading the bases with one out but striking out the side to escape the jam. He allowed just three base runners the rest of the way.

The award is the second of the season, and third of his career, for Jackson. The start marked his third complete game shutout of the year and the third-straight start in which he has punched out at least 10 batters. Over his past 38 innings, which spans his last six starts Jackson has posted a 0.47 ERA and racked up 62 strikeouts for a rate of 14.68 strikeouts per nine innings.

Jackson is 5-2 with a 1.61 ERA on the season. He has made 11 starts and struck out 91 batters in 67 innings of work (12.22 K/9) while posting a WHIP of just 0.98.

Bellevue (24-10/6-2 NSAA) hosts Dakota State University (12-11/5-3 NSAA) in a double-header tomorrow beginning at 3 p.m. from John Stella Field at Brown Park.
