Bio
As Bellevue University’s first full-time strength and conditioning coach, Jake Aylward has been involved with Bellevue athletics for over 10 years as a coach and athlete. Aylward handles the overall operation of the strength and conditioning program for all Bellevue athletics department that consists of 11 intercollegiate sports and close to 300 student-athletes.
Aylward played for the Bellevue University Baseball team from 2008-2011 and was 1st Team All-Conference in 2010 as a pitcher.
Upon receiving his bachelor’s degree in Business from BU in 2011, Aylward worked in the accounting department at two different companies as a purchasing analyst. After 3 years aylward chose to pursue a career in strength and conditioning. Aylward went back to school in 2018 to complete his Health and Human Performance Degree at Bellevue while coaching for the baseball team. Aylward also was certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS).
He began his foray into collegiate strength and conditioning while serving as an assistant baseball coach at BU and leading the team's strength and conditioning program from 2015-20. He took the newly created head strength coaching position with Bellevue in 2020 where he remained until the spring of 2023.
Aylward left Bellevue in the fall of 2023 where he served as a graduate assistant strength coach at the University of Hawaii, earning his Master's in Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Science.
He returned to BU in the fall of 2024, with his enhanced credentials, accepting his previous position as head strength coach.
In Aylward’s time as a strength and conditioning coach he has coached 6 Olympic Athletes from various countries and worked with 12 professional athletes from baseball and basketball.
Aylward currently resides in Bellevue.
