Caroline Feig (left)) and Sarah Felten become the first signees in the 2021-22 class.

The Bellevue University women's cross country/distance track team, under head coach Craig Christians is excited to announce the signing of its first recruits to the class of 2021-22.

Caroline Feig will join the Bruins after two seasons of collegiate distance running experience at Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon. A native of Waldport, Ore., Feig brings personal bests of 21:50 in the 5,000 meters and 5:24 for 1,500 meters on the track to Bellevue.

Feig is currently a BU student majoring in Biology.

Head Coach Craig Christians: "I'm very excited to add someone with Caroline's experience to the squad. Having lived in the mecca of American distance running in Eugene, she has a great knowledge of the sport and is familiar with the work that goes into being successful. She also brings outstanding academic talent making her a great addition to the program."

The second signee comes from here in Bellevue as Bellevue East High School's Sarah Felten will join the squad as a freshman in the fall.

Felten brings four solid years of high school distance running experience as a Chieftain. She ran a five-kilometer cross country best of 21:11 that produced her highest finish, a fourth-place showing at the Husky Invite. On the track, Felten's bests include 6:08 for 1,600 meters, 13:30 for 3,200 meters, and a personal best of 2:36 at 800 meters, set in her most recent meet.

Felten also brings a wealth of academic talent to BU, where she was a regular member of the Bellevue East Honor Roll and recipient of several additional academic awards.

Coach Christians: "I am really excited about Sarah staying in Bellevue to run for the Bruins. I think her best running is ahead of her and I can't wait for the chance to work with her. I like the range of ability she has demonstrated throughout her high school career that shows she is willing to do what it takes to succeed."

The Bruins will begin their fourth season with a cross country program in August of 2021.
