MADISON, S.D. -- Bellevue University junior Lorena Ramirez (Bellevue, Neb.) has been named the North Star Athletic Association's Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

In Bellevue's season-opening meet at the Dordt Sunflower Opener, Ramirez ran the 5k race in a time of 20:08.70 to place 33rd overall and 18th among scoring runners.

Host Dordt won the team championship as the Bruins ran to a seventh place finish overall.

Ramirez's time was the fifth-best posted by a BU runner in the program's brief existence.

It is the second time that Ramirez has been named NSAA Runner of the Week after previously being recognized on Oct. 1, 2019.

Bellevue next races on Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Herb Blakely Invitational in Madison, S.D., hosted by Dakota State.
