FOREST CITY, Iowa -- Led by freshman outside hitter Eve Fountain, the 12th-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team swept Waldorf 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-14) Saturday afternoon in North Star Athletic Association action at Hanson Fieldhouse.  

With the win, the Bruins improved to 12-3 on the season and 10-1 in the NSAA. Waldorf fell to 4-13 overall and 2-11 in league play. Bellevue now has a two-match lead in the conference standings with three matches remaining next week. 

Fountain led BU with 12 kills on .500 hitting while adding eight digs, three blocks, and three service aces. 

Junior outside hitter Sierra Athen hit .444 on the day, connecting on nine kills along with three digs and two blocks. 

Junior middle blocker Coree Lipovsky added seven kills hitting at a .462 clip while adding a match-high six blocks. 

Junior setter Olivia Galas directed the BU offense to an efficient .384 hitting percentage, dishing out 40 assists along with seven digs and a pair of block assists. 

Kenzie Kidd paced the Warriors with 10 kills and four digs. 

Paced by Lipovsky's five kills on seven swings, the Bruins hit a scorching .560 in the opening set en route to the 25-17 victory. 

BU cooled off in the second set, committing five hitting errors while hitting .278. The Bruins were sparked by a 7-1 run midway through the set before earning the 25-21 victory to go up 2-0 in the match. 

Bellevue raced out to a 10-2 lead before cruising to the 25-14 win in the third, clinching the sweep. Athen and Fountain both registered four kills in the final set. 

The Bruins will host Dakota State University on Wednesday, March 24, at 7:00 p.m. in BU's final regular-season home contest of the season.
