Saavedra leads BU to 2nd place showing in Battle at Primm

PRIMM, Nev. -- Senior Maria Saavedra led the Bellevue University women's golf team to a second-place finish in the 15-team Battle at Primm Invitational held at the Primm Golf Course. 

The tournament, which featured seven teams ranked in the NAIA top 25 national poll, was won by Keiser University, which shot a two-day total of 607 (308-299). The Bruins were 21 shots back after shooting a team total of 299 on the day for a 36-hole team score of 627 (328-299). 

Saavedra finished fifth in the individual standings after firing a 2-under par 70 for a two-round total of 154 (84-70). For her efforts, Saavedra was named to the all-tournament team. 

Renee Santoyo finished in 18th with a 36-hole total of 158 (81-77). Natalia Soria matched her first-round total, also finishing in a tie for 18th with a 158 (79-79) total.Wendy Monfort placed 21st after firing a 161 (84-77) total.  Karissa Moreland improved 14 shots over her first round total, firing a 76 on the day. 

The Bruins will travel to Silvas, Ill. on Mon.-Tue., Mar. 28-29 to compete in the TPC Deere Run Classic.
