Bruins run away with BU Fall Invite

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Maria Saavedra fired a second round-best 74 to claim the individual title while helping the Bellevue University women's golf team cruise to the Bellevue University Fall Invitational team title.

Between her round-best 74 and yesterday's 84 Saavedra finished with a score of 158, a stroke ahead of teammate Karissa Moreland (159) who fired a second round 77.

Natalia Soria and Wendy Monfort each collected top five finishes overall. Soria, with a second round 80, finished five strokes off the pace at 163. Monfort wrapped up play eight strokes back with a two-round total of 166, including a 79 on Tuesday.

Renee Santoyo rounded out Bellevue's lineup, finishing in eighth place overall after carding a second round 80 to post a score of 169 for the tournament.

Bellevue finished the tournament with a team score of 646, 35 strokes ahead of their closest competition, Iowa Western Community College (681). University of Jamestown (716), Grand View University (729), and Baker University (730) rounded out the top five.

The Bruins next compete at the Creighton Fall Classic at Oak Hills Country Club in Omaha, Neb. on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 19-20.
