BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University women's golf team, with three golfers in the top five individually, owns a 10-stroke lead over Iowa Western Community College for first place after one round of the Bellevue University Fall Invite.

Karissa Moreland is tied with Iowa Western's Sena Ersoy after the first round for the individual lead with scores of 82 apiece in incredibly windy conditions at Platteview Golf Club.

Hot on their heels of the tournament leaders are Natalia Soria and Maria Saavedra who are just one and two strokes back, respectively after carding an 83 and 84 in the opening round.

Wendy Monfort is tied for eighth overall after shooting an opening round 87, two strokes ahead of Renee Santoyo who ends the day in a tie for 11th place with a score of 89.

As a team Bellevue shot 336 on the day, 10 strokes ahead of Iowa Western (346). University of Jamestown (362), Grand View University (369), and Morningside College (373) round out the top five.

The tournament is playing a par 73 course that measures 5,802 yards. Play continues tomorrow with a 9 a.m. start.
