ATLANTA, Ga. -- Bellevue University senior Elexis Martinez (Omaha, Neb.) has been named an honorable mention All-American by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, as announced by the WBCA on Monday.
Martinez, a two-time NAIA honorable mention All-American, earned first team all-NSAA honors earlier this season after guiding Bellevue to a 17-7 overall record (11-3 NSAA) and the program's second appearance in the NSAA Championship Game.
This season, Martinez led Bellevue in scoring (16.0 PPG), rebounding (6.3 RPG), field goal percentage (47.7%), and blocked shots (16).
She currently rates atop the BU career list in scoring (1,674), scoring average (13.5 PPG), rebounds (760), blocked shots (116), field goal percentage (46.2%), and games played (124). In addition to holding career marks in several categories, she also ranks second in rebounding average (6.1 RPG) and third in steals (116).
She becomes the first player in program history to earn WBCA All-America honors. The NAIA's All-American teams will be released tomorrow.
