Martinez highlights BU's selections on all-NSAA squad

MADISON, S.D. -- Senior Elexis Martinez highlighted the Bruins' selections on the 2020-21 North Star Athletic Association Women's Basketball All-Conference teams announced today by the conference office. 

For the third-straight season, Martinez was named to the all-NSAA first team. Junior Faith Ross was named to the second team for the third-consecutive season. Senior Jamie Winkler garnered honorable mention accolades and was also BU recipient of the Champions of Character honor. 

Martinez led the Bruins with 16.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per game and was second on the squad with a 47.7 percent field-goal percentage. She recorded 20 double-figure scoring games as well as three double-doubles on the season. She scored over 20 points in four games this season. 

Martinez is the school's all-time leading scorer with 1,674 career points and the program's leader in rebounds with 760.

Ross was second on this year's squad with 12.6 points per game and second with 38 3-pointers. She scored in double figures 16 times, including a season-high 22 points in BU's 77-69 loss to Midland on Oct. 31. 

Winkler was third on the team in scoring at 9.8 points per game while leading the squad in assists with 72. She drained a team-high 45 3-pointers on the season and became the school's all-time assists leader with 309 career assists. 

The Bruins (17-7), who finished as runner-up in both the regular-season and NSAA Tournament, will await word of their post-season fate when the NAIA National Tournament selection show announces all qualifiers on Thursday, Mar. 4 at 6 p.m.
