Martinez repeats as Honorable Mention All-American

NAIA Release

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Bellevue University junior forward Elexis Martinez (Omaha, Neb.) was chosen as an honorable mention NAIA All-American when the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced their 2019-20 All-America Teams today.

Martinez led Bellevue in scoring (13.8 PPG), rebounding (7.3 RPG), and blocked shots (32). Additionally, she was the only player to start all 32 games on the season, shot 42.2 percent from the floor, and totaled 35 steals.

Martinez was also an honorable mention All-American a season ago and her selection this year marks the third-straight season in which BU has been represented on the All-America team.

Earlier this season, Martinez became the first player in program history to eclipse the 1,000-point milestone and she currently rates as Bellevue's career leader in points (1,307), rebounds (615), and blocked shots (100).

She was selected as the NSAA Player of the Week three times during the regular season, taking home the honors on Nov. 4, Nov. 18, and Dec. 2 before going on to take home first team all-NSAA honors at the league's annual awards banquet.

Bellevue posted a 21-11 record on the year and claimed a share of their second-straight conference regular season title with an 11-3 tally in conference play.
