The Bruin men's cross country team, under head coach Craig Christians, announced its second 2021 commitment today with the signing of Kaleb Wooten of Plattsmouth, Neb. Wooten will be the fifth Plattsmouth Blue Devil from Coach Todd Nott's squads to compete for the Bruins during their short history.

Wooten has been a key member of Plattsmouth's cross country program throughout his high school career, competing for the Blue Devils at the State Meet in all four of his seasons. He has shown steady improvement during that time running 18:30 for 5K as a freshman to this season's 16:57 time at State where he was awarded the 10th place medal in Class B. He also helped his team to a third-place finish, their highest team finish during his career. In his senior season, Wooten was the overall winner at the Wahoo Invite and also finished among the top eight runners at four additional meets.

Wooten has never competed in track as he was a soccer player in his early high school years and then his potential first season on the track last Spring was canceled by the pandemic. He and Coach Nott are anxious to see what he can do on the track this Spring where he will likely specialize in the 3200-meter run.

Coach Christians: "I'm really excited about adding Kaleb to the squad next fall. Having never run track before, I think he's got a super high ceiling now that he is becoming a year-round runner. I love his passion for the sport. This morning he was at a small road race that I direct and I love it when athletes make the most of those opportunities. That shows me that he is totally engaged and wants to improve. He's going to bring an excellent academic record to BU as he'll be receiving a freshman academic award, too."

The Bruins had previously signed Sam McIntryre of Glenwood, Iowa as their first in the recruiting class of 2021.
