BU battles Williams Baptist to draw

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. -- Toby Millward and Inaki Aldao each scored goals as the Bellevue University men's soccer team fought to a 2-2 draw with Williams Baptist University on Monday afternoon.

With the draw, Bellevue sees their record move to 9-4-1 on the season with Williams Baptist moving to 7-2-1.

All four goals were scored in the opening half with Gabriel Otero opening the scoring less than three minutes into the match to give the host side an early 1-0 lead.

Bellevue answered in the 18th minute when Toby Millward converted a penalty kick for the second-straight game.

Inaki Aldao put Bellevue ahead in the 30th minute with his team-leading 15th goal of the season off an assist from Gabriel Gaiotto.

Thayrone Cazeca found the back of the net in the 39th minute to pull the Eagles back on terms.

The physical affair saw the teams combine for 42 fouls on the afternoon while BU held a 12-7 edge in shots.

As the game advanced to overtime, Bellevue had the better start to the extra time as the Bruins accounted for the first four shots.

With under five minutes to go in the second overtime period, Williams Baptist had a chance to seal the game but AJ Jarvis came up with two huge saves to preserve the draw.

Jarvis finished with four saves for the Bruins while his counterpart Alejandro Perez matched his total.

"We showed great fitness to finish out the double overtime. Mistakes were the difference but we know we can control those and improve. AJ made two fantastic saves in overtime to keep us in the game. We have two weeks off before we play Kansas Wesleyan so we have good rest and players coming back in from injury."
