Game-winner secures Aldao second Player of the Week Award

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Bellevue University senior forward Inaki Aldao (Buenos Aires, Argentina) has been named the Men's Soccer Player of the Week by the Association of Independent Institutions for the second time this year, as announced by the A.I.I. office on Monday morning.

Aldao scored the eventual game-winning goal in the Bruins' 3-2 victory over Morningside last Wednesday. With Bellevue leading 2-1, Aldao scored in the 82nd minute. After some hold-up play at the nearside top corner of the 18-yard box, Aldao created a shooting lane and beat the keeper to the far side with a low strike into the net.

He currently leads the NAIA with five game-winning goals on the season and ranks second nationally with 14 goals, which equals his career-high set in 2018. Aldao, second on the Bruins' all-time goals list with 39 career goals, has his eye set on the top spot currently held by head coach Mark Heath-Preston who bagged 45 goals in his playing career.

The award marks Aldao's third career A.I.I. Player of the Week Award (Sept. 21 & Oct. 26 of this year; Sept. 3, 2018).

Bellevue will have three weeks off before their next scheduled game at Waldorf University. Kick-off is set for 5 p.m. from Bolstorff Field in Forest City, Iowa.
