STERLING, Kan. — The No. 14 Bellevue University men's soccer team created their most chances of the season but were unable to capitalize as the Bruins suffered a 2-1 loss at Sterling College on Saturday evening.

Recap: Sterling 2, #14 Bellevue 1

Sterling received goals from Gustavo Reyes in the 17th minute and Mauricio Cordone in the 30th minute as the home side took a 2-1 lead into the halftime break.

Bellevue generated 29 shots in the match, putting 11 on frame, to Sterling's eight.

The chippy affair saw a total of 10 cards issued to the two sides, including a pair of red cards.

AJ Jarvis totaled five saves in goal for the Bruins.

Man of the Match:

Andy Wilkinson, with considerations given to Nate Fibich who had a good first start.

Coach Mark Heath-Preston:

"Each member of the team needs to take more responsibility for how they play, train and work for the Bruin shirt. We just had 29 plus shots and couldn't score. We need to get back to doing the little things right and finding out who the guys are that care the most."

Bellevue is back on the road on Thursday, Sept 5 to face William Woods at 7 p.m. from Firley Field.
