Coles becomes latest BU men's soccer signee

Center midfielder Jack Coles (Cardiff, Wales) is the newest signee in the Bellevue University men's soccer 2013 recruiting class as announced by head coach Matt Briggs today.

Coles, the son of Andrew and Tania Coles, attended Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Plasmawr, a Welsh-speaking secondary school in the United Kingdom.

"Jack is another quality signing who will add competition to our already strong midfield," stated Briggs. "He is an out-and-out footballer with great ability as well as possessing a bit of bite."

He played club soccer for Newport County AFC under coach Glyn Jones. Coles helped lead Newport County to the 2012 County Cup title.

"Jack is our fourth recent signing and along with Ben, Lee and Jake, he is not only a great player but a top young man with a tremendous attitude," added Briggs.

Coles joins earlier signees Lee Willmore (Norfolk, England), Jake Williams (Hale, England) and Ben Martin (Lincolnshire, England) in this year's recruiting class.

Bellevue ended the 2012 season with a 10-8-1 overall record. The Bruins finished second in the MCAC regular season standings with a 5-1 conference mark and also placed second in the MCAC Tournament to No. 3-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
