Bruins lead after first round of Ryerson Classic

PELLA, Iowa -- Bruin golfers were littered across the leaderboard occupying the top five spots and seven of the top nine as the Bellevue University men's golf team raced to an 11-stroke lead over their "B" team in round one of the Ryerson Fall Classic on Friday at Bos Landen Golf Course.

Team Recap:

Bellevue (298, +10) holds an 11-stroke lead over the Bellevue "B" team (309, +21), but a 26-shot advantage over the next closest A-team, Wartburg College (324, +36).

With three teams entered, host Central is led by their "B" entry (320, +32) with the varsity (326, +38) and "C" team (328, +40) neck-and-neck for fifth.

Simpson College (333, +45) sits seventh overall, 35 shots off the pace.

Individual Recap:

Reigning NSAA Golfer of the Week Floris-Jan Oosterhof holds the individual lead after shooting an even-par 72 on Friday. He is one-stroke up on fellow Bruins Andre Becerra (73, +1) and Lucas Leinen (73, +1).

Oosterhof, Becerra, Alex Zillig (76, +4), and Rodrigo Navarette (77, +5) all find themselves in the top 10 individually as they comprise the main BU team. Zillig is alone in fifth while Navarette is in a three-way tie for sixth.

In addition to Leinen, leading the "B" team, Baptiste Bonnet (74, +2) worked his way to a top five standing, finding himself in fourth place after 18 holes. Evan Macke (78, +6) is in ninth while Cameron Lampe (84, +12) is tied for 26th place.

Oosterhof, Becerra, and Bonnet each notched three birdies on the day to lead Bellevue.

The top non-Bellevue golfers are Nic Kauffman (Central "B") and Landen Pace (Wartburg) who are each tied for sixth place at 5-over (77).
