NORFOLK, Neb. -- The Bellevue University men's golf team is tied for first with Midland University after the first round of the 2015 Nebraska Intercollegiate at Norfolk Country Club. Both team finished with a team total of 299 (+11) and lead by five strokes over 2014 Champion, Hastings College.

Juan Gomez led Bellevue with a 71 (-1), while defending individual championship, Renen Sahr, led Midland with a 73 (+1). Nebraska-Kearney's Tyler Dowling is one stroke ahead of Gomez in the individual race after a 2-under 70.

Rookies Marc Juggins and Fernando Arzate are second and third among BU golfers after first round scores of 73 and 75, respectively. Juggins rests in a four-way tie for fourth while Arzate is one of three golfers tied for 14th overall.

Diego Gudino shot an 8-over 80 and Mike Hannon carded a first round 83. Gudino is in a crowded eight-way tie for 38th and Hannon is tied for 57th in the 83-golfer field.

The second, and final, round begins Saturday with a 10 a.m. shotgun.
