Young scores 19 to lead BU over Ecclesia, 74-59

POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. -- Junior Taylor Young scored 19 points to lead the Bellevue University men's basketball team to a 74-59 victory over Ecclesia College Friday night in the opening game of the McDonald's CAM JAM Classic at Keeter Gymnasium on the campus of the College of the Ozarks. 

Bellevue has now won eight-straight games, improving to 13-2 on the season. 

Joining Young in double figures were Marquis Aaron (14 points, 6 rebounds) and Alex Worthen-Harris (11 points, 2 rebounds). 

DJ Wallace and Chris Reed finished with 12 points apiece to guide the Royal offense. 

A 15-4 BU run highlighted the first period as the Bruins took a 36-25 lead at the break. Bellevue outshot Ecclesia 53.6 to 37.5 percent in the first 20 minutes. 

A 3-point play by Ian Randolph capped a 17-3 second-half run as BU gained a decisive 53-28 advantage with 15 minutes remaining in the contest. 

Bellevue maintained a 23-point margin over the next 12 minutes, but the Royals held BU scoreless in the final three minutes and claimed the game's final eight points to slice the final difference to 15 points, 74-59. 

The Bruins held a 42-34 advantage in rebounds and outshot the Royals 49.2 to 35.7 percent in BU's ninth double-digit victory of the season. 

The Bruins will conclude the tournament on Saturday (Jan. 3) with a 3 p.m. contest against 18th-ranked Indiana University East.
