MCAC Standings

Bethany, Okla. -- The Bellevue University men's basketball team topped Southwestern Christian University 61-57 in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference action Saturday night at Pickens Springer Gymnasium.

The Bruins have now won 10 of their last 11 games and improved to 17-8 and 8-3 in the MCAC. SCU fell to 7-18 overall and 3-8 in conference play.

Shawn Tarver led the Bruins with 20 points and eight rebounds.

Jamil Goodwin, Everett Robinson and Dominique Grant each tallied 10 points apiece.

BU shot 60.7 percent from the field and led the entire first half en route to a 13-point lead, 40-27. Robinson scored all 10 of his points in the first period.

Facing its only deficit of the game, 51-50, with six minutes remaining in the game, the Bruins scored 11 of the final 17 points to pull out the four-point win, 61-57. 

SCU was led by Clint Amberry who recorded 12 points and seven rebounds.

The Bruins will return to the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center on Tuesday, Feb. 5 when they host Haskell Indian Nations University at 7:30 p.m.
