YORK, Neb. -- The 22nd-ranked York College Panthers outscored the Bellevue University men's basketball team 21-15 in the final five minutes of play to come away with a 90-82 win Tuesday night in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference action at the Freeman Center.

The Panthers (17-4, 7-1 MCAC) snapped a 13-game losing streak to Bellevue (14-8, 5-3 MCAC) dating back to the 2006-07 season. The Bruins lead the all-time series with YC, 41-4.

Jamil Goodwin, this week's MCAC Player of the Week, recorded his team-leading eighth double-double, posting 18 points and 10 rebounds. Goodwin's double-double was also his sixth in the last eight games.

Four other players scored in double figures for the Bruins, led by Everett Robinson (17) and Michael Dotson (16). Dominique Grant added 15 points, five assists and three steals while Thaddeus Perry chipped in 10 points and two blocks.

Both teams shot 53.3 percent from the field, but the Bruins were plagued by 20 turnovers that led to 20 YC points.

The first half started slow as the two teams combined for four points on 2-of-11 shooting, including five turnovers, in the first four minutes before the Bruins went on a 9-2 spurt to take a 11-4 lead to force a YC timeout.

The Panthers responded and scored 11 of the next 13 points to take a two-point lead (15-13) midway through the period.

Neither team was able to lead by more than six points in the final eight minutes of the first half as YC took a three-point lead, 38-35, at intermission.

Grant led the Bruins with 11 first half points, on 4-of-5 shooting, as BU shot 53.9 percent from the field, but were just 1-of-8 (12.5 percent) from three-point range. The Panthers shot 51.7 percent in the first period.

The Panthers made their first four field goal attempts to open the second half as they took an eight-point lead, 46-38.

Trailing 53-49, the Bruins connected on back-to-back 3-pointers to take their first lead of the second half (55-53) with 12:40 remaining.

The two teams would exchange baskets over the next six minutes as neither team led by more than four points.

Leading 69-67 with just under five minutes to play, YC scored 21 of the final 36 points to win, 90-82.

The Panthers were led by a pair of 20-point scorers. Dyan Brewer scored 22 points with four 3-pointers while Marcus Johnson recorded 21 points with three rebounds and three assists.

The Bruins return home on Saturday, Jan. 26, for a 5 p.m. MCAC contest against Waldorf College.
