Without a doubt, Lindsey Bredar Betsworth is the most decorated and honored softball athlete in Bellevue University history.

During her 2002-2005 career under former Head Coach and current Athletic Director Ed Lehotak, Lindsey earned three NAIA All-American honors and broke numerous school records and one national record.

She still holds seven offensive career records at Bellevue, including batting average (.416), slugging percentage (.751), on-base percentage (.501), doubles (56), home runs (52), runs batted in (242) and walks (100). Her 52 career home runs set the NAIA national record and still ranks fourth on the all-time NAIA records’ chart.

A four-time Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference selection and all-Region selection, Lindsey was named the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference’s Player of the Year during her senior campaign and also the NAIA Region IV Player of the Year.

During her career, Lindsey helped guide the Bruins to three MCAC Tournament titles and four appearances in the NAIA Region IV Tournament, as BU averaged over 38 wins per year.

To cap off her storied career, Lindsey was awarded the Omaha World-Herald’s Female Athlete of the Year honor in 2005, given annually to the state’s top small college student-athlete.

Athletic Director Jerry Mosser named her Bellevue University’s Female Student-Athlete of the Year in 2005.

As successful in the classroom as she was on the field, Lindsey graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in psychology from Bellevue and earned two NAIA Academic All-American honors. She was also named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American Scholar-Athlete in 2004.

Lindsey is currently employed with the Bellevue Police Department and is assigned as a detective with the family crimes unit.

She and her husband Jacob have a two-year-old son, Vince.
