Samanga Amarasinghe

Samanga Amarasinghe began his first season as the head coach for the e-Sports program at Bellevue University in December of 2018. Amarasinghe brings with him a wealth of experience into his new role. 

A native of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Amarasinghe has worked at Bellevue University in various roles for over 12 years. Most recently, he served as the Manager of the Information Technology Work Station Support Services from 2006 through 2018. Amarasinghe is also an adjunct professor in the College of Business. 

Amarasinghe worked for the Omaha Police Department as a Systems Developer/Programmer from 2000-02. In his role at OPD, he was in charge of developing centralized, secure databases for OPD's Bom Response Unit, Emergency Response Unit, Training Unit, and the K9 Unit that supported the report efforts to the FBI. 

Amarasinghe has been influenced by his late father Dr. Y. Ranjith Amarasinghe (a Political Science professor at Peradeniya University) and mother Malika Amarasinghe (retired college prep school instructor). He honed a multi-disciplinary approach to various subjects including Archeology, Literature, Political Science, Arts and History as well as his hunger for education and research.  

An accomplished author, Amarasinghe has published two books, "American National Security and Foreign Policies from an International Perspective" which was published in 2016 and "Independence to Freedom" published in 2011. 

Amarasinghe owns various degrees in higher education, including a Master of Arts from Bellevue University and a Bachelor's in History and a Minor in Computer Information Systems, also from BU. He is currently completing work on his PhD. from Walden University in Public Policy Administration. 

Amarasinghe lives in Omaha with his wife Dilrukshi.
