OMAHA, Neb. -- Behind 14 base hits the Bellevue University baseball team defeated a short-handed Dickinson State University 15-3 on Friday evening at John Stella Field at Brown Park.
Dickinson State (1-17, 0-8 NSAA) took a forfeit loss in game two as the Bruins (19-15, 6-2 NSAA) picked up a pair of wins on the day.
Bellevue is scheduled to host Peru State on Monday, Apr. 2 at 4 p.m. at Brown Park.

Bellevue got off to a fast start with a five-run first. Austin Alexander got the offense rolling with a two-run triple ahead of an RBI-single from Riley Baasch. JT Patterson capped the big frame with a long home run, his sixth of the year.
The Bruins tacked on four more runs in the second to go up 9-0. Brandon Salmon, Alexander, and Travis Tanaka each had RBI-singles and Salmon scored on an overthrow after a stolen base.
Dickinson State scored the game's next three runs with a run in the third and two more in the fifth to trim the Bruin advantage to 9-3.
BU put the game away with a six-run fifth as Kory Longaker and Riley Baasch hit doubles which scored one and two, respectively. Salmon added a two-run single and Stuart Eurich finished the scoring with a run-scoring hit.
Dylan Thorp (4-2) earned the victory after battling through 4.2 innings. Colten Barnes and Jordan Baughman combined to strike out six batters as they recorded the game's final seven outs.
Walter Wood (0-1) took the loss for Dickinson State.
