    The College of St. Mary softball team outhit the Bruins 10-5 and rode the solid pitching effort of Shaylynn Campbell as the Flames earned a 4-3 victory over Bellevue University Tuesday night in non-conference action at Roy Smith Field.

    Bruin athletes were individual champions in two events at Saturday’s Jim Dutcher Invitational hosted by Doane University. Meet conditions were cool and breezy, which made fast times a premium for the day, but two Bruin men prevailed over the field of mostly NAIA competition, taking home wins in the men’s 1500-meter run and the 3000-meter steeplechase.

    Due to rain and thunderstorms in the Lincoln area, the second round of the Kaitlyn Erickson Doane Invite could not be completed. Monday's first-round results will be the final results of the tournament, with the Bruins earning the team title by 22 strokes over second-place Dakota Wesleyan University.

Wind and cool springtime weather finally made way for sunny skies and calm winds, and the Bruins responded with many season-best performances.

BU won by scores of 2-1 and 6-1.

Bellevue University head volleyball coach Trish Siedlik is one of four nominees for the 2024 Female Coach of the Year honor. The award will be announced at the 2024 Omaha Sports Commission Awards Show (OSCAS) on May 30.
