Bruins place second at Yellow Jacket Invite

LAMONI, Iowa -- Three Bruin runners recorded season-best times and four finished in the top 10 to lead the Bellevue University women's cross country team to a second place finish at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by Graceland University.

Recap:

Bellevue placed four runners in the top 10 in a 24-runner field but were edged out by Graceland University, by nine points, for the team crown.

Lorena Ramirez (21:07.80) led the way for BU with a third place finish. She was followed by Alisiara Hobbs (21:26.80) in fifth, Maiwut Dar (21:45.00) in seventh, and Isabelle Gonzalez (22:07.90) in 10th as all three runners set new season-best marks.

Dayana Montano-Salama (23:52.30) and Diana Montano-Salama (26:24.60) also ran for the Bruins and placed 17th and 20th, respectively.

2. Bellevue -- 41
3. Central Methodist -- 50

"Today was a big step forward for us as a team and a hint of what potentially lies ahead. I thought Alisiara Hobbs, Maiwut Dar, and Isabelle Gonzalez had breakout races today and I'm excited to see what they can do in the coming weeks. I'm sure they are not done running faster times."
