Fountain, Galas honored by NSAA with weekly awards

MADISON, S.D. -- Bellevue University junior setter Olivia Galas and freshman outside hitter Eve Fountain were both honored by the North Star Athletic Association in the weekly volleyball awards program, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Galas earned NSAA Setter of the Week and Fountain was recognized as the NSAA's Attacker of the Week.

Galas produced a season-high 59 assists in directing the Bruins to a .298 hitting percentage in their lone match last week. She added 20 digs to notch her third double-double of the season in the win over Dakota State while adding seven kills and a pair of blocks.

She ranks fourth nationally with 11.18 assists per set and has guided Bellevue to a .270 hitting percentage as a team, good for ninth in the NAIA. The award is her second of the season and 17th of her Bruin career.

Fountain matched a program record (rally scoring era) for kills in a match with 26 in the Bruins five-set victory over the Trojans. She hit a sizzling .412 and added 19 digs for her second double-double of the year, adding three blocks for good measure.

She ranks 20th nationally in kills per set with 3.71 and 25th with a .327 hitting percentage.

The Bruins are 4-1 overall and 4-0 in NSAA play with two matches remaining in their fall season.
