Outsides propel Bruins to win over Flames

OMAHA, Neb. -- Outside hitters Sierra Athen and Paige Holdsworth both produced double-doubles to lead the 13th-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team to a 3-1 (25-21, 25-13, 17-25, 25-20) victory at College of St. Mary Tuesday night in non-conference action at the Lied Fitness Center.  

With the win, the Bruins improved to 24-5 on the season. CSM fell to 20-12 overall. 

Holdsworth finished with 16 kills and a match-high 23 digs for her third-straight double-double. Athen collected 16 kills and 16 digs for her team-leading 16th double-double of the season. 

Rosa Reed-Bouley pocketed nine kills on .381 hitting while adding a block. 

Olivia Galas directed the BU offense to a .264 hitting percentage, dishing out 49 assists to go along seven kills and seven digs. 

Madi Evans contributed with 17 digs and seven assists as the Bruins held a 74-68 advantage in digs. 

Nicole Meyer led the Bruins in blocks with a match-high five stuffs. 

The Flames used a balanced offense with four players in doubles figures in kills, including Makenna Freeman (12), Kamryn Willman (12), Elizabeth Dlouhy (11), and Amber Anderson (10).  

The Bruins will return to conference action when they travel to La Crosse, Wis. to take on No. 6-ranked Viterbo University at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1.
